NGU CAPS END OF SEASON WITH 9-1 WIN OVER ATLANTA CHRISTIAN
April 24, 2009
Tigerville – The North Greenville Crusaders erupted for seven runs in the 4th inning to put a nice capstone on the next to last game of the 2009 season as NGU downed Atlanta Christian College 9-1 Friday afternoon at Ashmore Field.
Dayton Lupton opened the scoring in the fourth with a sacrifice fly that drove in a run, Randy Stegall then ripped a two run double, which was followed by Anthony Foulk’s single that knocked in two more runs. The Crusaders also added two more unearned runs in the inning.
North Greenville added two more insurance runs in the 7th inning when Derek Fulmer doubled in a run and then later scored on a passed ball.
Devin Vance most likely made his final start for North Greenville and he made it a game to remember. The senior hurler from Taylors (Blue Ridge HS) pitched nine innings for a complete game, allowed no earned runs and struck out a season high 10 batters and allowed only six hits by ACC.
The top hitters on the day for NGU were Tyler Callicut who went 3-4, and Fulmer who was 2-3. Seven different players compiled the 10 hits for the Crusaders.
Coach Travis Henson’s team has one game remaining, a Monday home contest against Emmanuel College at 2:30 p.m. at Ashmore Field.
