CRUSADER BASEBALL TEAM WRAPS UP 2010 REGULAR SEASON SPLITTING WITH ST. ANDREWS

FINISH REGULAR SEASON 38-14
Laurinsburg, N.C.—The North Greenville Baseball Team (38-14) wrapped up its record breaking 2010 regular season on Saturday splitting a double header with St. Andrews Presbyterian winning game one 5-4 while losing game two 8-4.
The Crusaders secured their 38th win of the season behind pitcher Mark Benjamin who pitched 4.2 innings giving up four runs on eight hits. Benjamin allowed one walk and struck out three batters.

Senior third baseman Dayton Lupton led North Greenville from the plate going 2-3 from the plate with two RBI’s. Derek Fulmer was 1-4 with an RBI and David Frazier was 2-3 with an RBI. NGU started the game hot offensively scoring three runs in the first at bat. The Crusaders added on run in both the second and third innings to secure the 5-4 victory.
The Crusaders struggled in game two managing four runs on only five hits. NGU left eight runners on base. Four of the five North Greenville hits came from the bats of Tyler Callicutt and Dayton Lupton. Callicutt was 2-3 with a runs scored and Lupton was 2-3 as well with an RBI. David Frazier produced the fifth hit of the day for NGU. Frazier was 1-3 with a run scored. Brian Giles and Derek Fulmer added an RBI a piece.
With the regular season officially in the books, the Crusaders will begin preparations for their first NCCAA South Regional Tournament. The Tournament champion will head to Cincinnati Ohio for the NCCAA World Series. The Regional Tournament begins on May 13th.
