CRUSADERS TAKE TWO FROM KING COLLEGE

BRISTOL, Tenn. The North Greenville Crusaders locked up another series win today after taking two from the King College Tornadoes 4-0 and 6-2 Friday afternoon.

North Greenville loaded the bases in the third inning of game one and platted three runs.  John Reinholz broke the 0-0 tie when he scored on a misplayed grounder from Derek Fulmer. An RBI single from David Frazier and a Tyler Callicutt sacrifice fly platted two more runs for NGU.

The Crusaders struck again in the eighth when Andrew Lawrence laid down a squeeze bunt which scored Derek Fulmer who led the inning off with a double. 

On the mound for North Greenville was ace right hander Drew Provence. Provence pitched seven shutout innings  striking out seven while allowing four hits. Nate Richards threw the final two innings for the Crusaders.

The Crusader pitching staff was the first staff to pitch a shutout against king since Montreat College blanked the Tornadoes on April 18, 2009, a streak which lasted 87 games.
King struck in the first inning of game two when scoring on a wild pitch. King scored one more run in the frame on a ground ball to second base.

North Greenville finally struck in the fourth inning scoring six runs on four hits.

Derek Fulmer pitched the second game pitching six innings of hitless baseball. He struck out eight while walking five (four in the first inning) and gave up two runs. Brian Giles finished the game for the Crusaders.

David Frazier and Tyler Callicutt each had two hits during game two and Adam Taylor had two RBIs with a double all in the fourth inning. 
The crusaders improved to 27-11 on the season and will look to sweep the series on Saturday. The first pitch for Saturday’s game is set for 1pm with weather permitting.
