Baseball falls at Catawba

SALISBURY, NC – Catawba College pounded out 19 hits as the fourth-ranked Indians knocked off visiting North Greenville 23-7 in baseball action Thursday night at Newman Park. Catawba improves to 38-10 while the Crusaders fall to 11-38.
Leading 2-0 heading into the second, Aaron Rimer (Salisbury, NC) led off the frame with a solo-HR to right, part of a three run inning for the Tribe. Three Crusader errors in the third enabled the Indians to put an eight spot on the board as Rimer and Matt Kepley (Greensboro, NC) each picked up RBI singles, while Chad Baker (Jamestown, NC), Jimbo Davis (Salisbury, NC) and Kepley would registered RBI doubles.
North Greenville would put four on the board in the fourth as Kyle Baron (Dalton, GA) would deliver the big blow in the inning with a two-run double. The Crusaders would get a pair of runs in the fifth as Carlos Cardenas (Guayaquil, ECUADOR) would blast a two-run shot to right-center. Catawba would respond in the home half of the fifth as Davis connected on a two-run HR to center.
Rimer would pick up his second HR of the night with a three-run bomb in the sixth. Rimer finished the night going 4-for-5 at the plate with five RBI. Kepley would end up with three hits and three RBI while Davis wrapped up his night with a 2-for-4 performance grabbing four RBI. For the Crusaders, Baron had a 3-for-4 evening with a pair of RBI.
