JV SOCCER HANDED FIRST LOSS OF 2012

By Cory Guinn

Tigerville, SC - In the 2012 home opener, the North Greenville University JV Soccer team suffered its first loss of the season after Anderson University defeated the Crusaders 2-1 on Monday night in Pepsi Stadium.

The Trojans scored early when they put the first goal on the board in the 26th minute to go up 1-0, an advantage the team carried into the half.

Anderson scored again in the 50th minute to go up two goals to none before the Crusaders got on the board with a goal of their own in the 75th minute. Junior defender Cameron Porter scored his first goal of the season when he placed a header into the back of the net off of a corner kick by senior James Lobbestael.

Both the Crusaders and Trojans recorded eight shots apiece as North Greenville goalkeeper Andrew Duncan recorded three saves.

"The guys fought hard tonight, especially at the end when we were down by two goals," said head coach Kyle Walden. "Anderson is a quality team played well. We have to continue to play hard and improve and carry that into our next game."

North Greenville (1-1-1) will have a quick turnaround as the team travels to Brevard, NC on Wednesday, Sept. 15 to take on Brevard College at 4 p.m.
