Sophomore Staton Recognized As All-American

Tigerville, SC – Crusader sophomore second baseman Allen Staton has been recognized by the American Baseball Coaches Association and the National Baseball Writers Association as an All-American, along with four other members of Conference Carolinas.
The ABCA was formed in 1942 and is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level, comprised of over 6,500 members across all 50 states and 23 countries, while NCBWA , founded in 1962, is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball with membership into the association open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport
Staton, a sophomore second baseman/pitcher, earned a spot on the NCBWA All-American First Team and the ABCA All-American Third Team after batting .388 during the 2013 season, including a team-high .683 slugging percentage and 11 home runs. The Laurens, SC native also ranked first on the team with 71 hits, including 19 doubles, to go along with 54 RBI and 34 runs scored in 44 games.
The Laurens, SC native is currently a member of the Columbia Blowfish of the Coastal Plain League.
