Crusaders fall at No. 9 GCSU

Game one was highlighted by an 11-run third inning, and six strong innings from Bobcat starter Sean Heimpel. He allowed just two earned runs over that six-inning stretch improving to 1-0.
Senior rightfielder Bryan Shaughnessy was 5-for-5, driving in five runs with a pair of doubles and scoring three times. He had a double and single in that third inning.
Sophomore catcher Pete Paris hit 4-for-4, scoring three times and driving in one while also posting a pair of doubles. Freshman leftfielder Andrew Evans plated four runs with a 3-for-5 day, including a two-run home run.
Crusader starter Brett Hamilton dropped to 0-1 with the 4 2/3 innings worth.
Game two was another strong outing from senior Jayson Bennett as he scattered two hits over six innings of work to get his first win (1-0).
The Bobcats got two runs in the first, as leadoff hitter Justin Mills scored on an error, and another Shaughnessy double plated another. He drove in another run in the third with a single, his seventh RBI of the day.
The Bobcats put it further out of reach in the fifth, getting RBI singles from Mills and Rich Janofsky and a run-scoring double from Jeff Kolve.
Shaugnessy ended the day 7-for-8 with three runs and seven RBI. Janofsky was 4-for-5 with three runs.
NGUís Dylan Davidson dropped to 2-1 with 4 2/3 innings of work.
