MARS HILL, NC - The Lions' baseball team swept North Greenville University in a double-header at Henderson Field Wednesday afternoon. MHC won the first game 16-4 and then won game two, 5-2. The Lions improved to 22-15 while the Crusaders fell to 3-25-1 on the season.

Game 1: MHC 16, NGU 4
MHC scored eight runs in the first two innings to pull away with a lead that the Crusaders could not keep up with. After four innings of play the Lions held a 13-4 advantage. MHC added three insurance runs in the sixth frame to make the final tally 16-4.

MHC belted out 16 hits in the win. Michael Dobre led MHC at the plate going 4-5 with four runs scored, a double and a RBI. Brian Williams followed going 2-3 with two runs scored, two RBI and a pair of doubles. Wes Skidmore led the team in RBI with three while Corry DiBiase added two hits and the same number of RBI. He also hit a double. Matt Dameron picked up the win (1-0) throwing 4.2 innings in relief.

Game 2: MHC 5, NGU 2
The second contest was a much closer game. After three scoreless innings Brandon Savoca (Riegelwood, NC) hit a sacrifice fly to right field to plate Matt Oleski and give MHC a 1-0 lead. The Lions added four insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on two hits and one Crusader error. Those runs would prove to be crucial in the next inning. Dobre doubled in the sixth to drive in two of the four runs.

The Crusaders made a run at the Lions in their last at-bat scoring two runs on two hits and one error. Right-handed pitcher Thomas White was able to hold the Crusaders at bay and seal the sweep for the Lions.

Dobre and Austin Boehme each went 1-3 with two RBI apiece to lead MHC at the plate. Dobre added a double. Tyler Greene picked up the win (1-2) in relief for the Lions.

NGU will travel to Chowan University for a three-game series this weekend.
