TIGERVILLE, SC- North Greenville University completed a season sweep of St. Andrews Presbyterian College Friday with two wins in NCAA Division II softball action. The Crusaders won the first game 3-1 and the second game 7-0. NGU improves to 5-15 on the season.
GAME ONE- NGU 3 SAPC 1
Ashley Warlick pitched seven innings, giving up four hits and striking out six to pick up the win for NGU. Samantha Stewart took the loss for the Knights.
Hope Brewer went 2-4, scoring one run and batting in another to lead NGU. Lindsey Eargle went 2-3 with an RBI and Shannon Rainey scored twice for the Crusaders. Bridget Watson added the other RBI.
The Crusaders scored one run in each of the first, fourth, and sixth innings.
Brittni York batted 2-2 to lead SAPC. The Knight's only run came in the fourth inning as Erin Haugen scored on an error.
Each team left seven runners on base.
GAME TWO- NGU 7 SAPC 0
Audrey Christmas pitched seven innings, striking out two to pick up her first win of the season. Lauren James struck out three in the loss.
The Crusaders exploded offensively in the second game. Rainey went 1-2 with two RBI, while Eargle went 1-2 and scored two runs. Christina Shin added a hit and an RBI and scored two runs. Allison Bailey went 1-2 with an RBI and scored a run. Tia Lafrieniere also had one hit and an RBI.
NGU scored three runs in the first inning, one in the third, and three in the fifth.
Brianna Shurtleff and Devane Rushing each went 3-4 to lead the Knights.
St. Andrews stranded 11 runners, while NGU only left four on base.
North Greenville will return to action Wednesday as they host Erskine College at 2:00 p.m.
