A coaching veteran with seven years’ experience, Issac Mooring joins the North Greenville coaching staff for his first season. He will guide the Crusaders defensive line.

A native of Tarboro, North Carolina, Mooring comes to NGU from North Carolina Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount, NC. While at NC Wesleyan, Mooring served in multiple coaching capacities. From 2009-2011, Mooring guided the Bishops’ offensive line. Before moving to the offensive side of the ball, he tutored the program’s defensive line for two years in a scheme similar to that which he will be coaching for the Crusaders.

His time with the fledgling Bishops’ program saw many highs for Mooring as he tutored numerous All-Conference and All-Region performers on each side of the ball. His time at NCWC was highlighted by a conference championship and NCAA Division III playoff berths in 2007 and 2008.

Mooring lettered four years and started two years at the University of North Carolina under Head Coaches Carl Torbush and John Bunting. During his stellar collegiate career, Mooring spent time at both Defensive End and Defensive tackle alongside NFL great Julius Peppers and Dorman High graduate, Ryan Sims. In 2001, Mooring was a major contributor on a UNC team which won the Peach Bowl over Auburn.

Mooring is married to the former Quanza Robinson. The couple has four children: Sydnei (11), Trey (6), C.J. (4), Isaiah (2)

Coach McCray on Issac Mooring ... “Our football family is excited to have Issac join us this year. His extensive background as both a player and coach on the defensive line will be a great asset to our team. His personal values coincide with that of North Greenville University and our football program.”
